Hej macwerk,

Det kan blive en spændende tråd...

Hvor ny skal musikken være før den er moderne? Er det fra starten af det 20. århundrede eller er det nulevende komponister du er ude efter.

Kender du Arvo Pärt fra Estland (jeg kan ikke lige huske om du har skrevet om ham før)?

Der er også Steve Reich - hans Music For 18 Musicians holder jeg meget af.

Jeg mangler selv noget med György Ligeti, så hvis nogen kan anbefale noget...

Jeg tror der begynder at ske noget allerede fra 1870'erne?

Det er mere indholdet end alderen.

Faktisk er det lidt dårlig timeing med alle mine nye plader, men Kubík'en er da for fed  :lol:

Takker, det skal blive spændene at kigge nærmere på  :D

Med den moderne musik må man nok skyde en hvid pil efter billige brugte LP'er  :cry:
Heldigvis jeg bor et spydtkast fra et velassorteret bibliotek (men min HD/DVD-recorder som benyttes til CD-afvikling kunne vist godt tåle en udskiftning).

Hvad har arven fra de store mestre bragt med sig? Hvor er min generations Béla?

Det kunne være vi skulle holde os til nulevende komponister?

Thomas Koppel’s (1944-2006) career as a composer and musician was unique in the world of Danish music. He began composing as a child and as a teenager was well on his way towards a duel career as composer and classical concert pianist, but abandoned this in favour of avant-garde rock music and later an idealistic career as a musician on the political left.

For the last fifteen years of his life he worked again with music scored for classical ensembles, but his output was always determined by an uncompromising attitude to life and society.

This new CD release features three works by Koppel, written for the famous flute virtuoso Michala Petri. Besides “Los Angeles Street Concerto”, there are beautiful recordings of “Moonchild's Dream” and “Nele's Dances”. All three works are performed by Michala Petri (on recorder) together with Copenhagen Philharmonic and conductor Bo Holten.

These three pieces all contain a social programme and they focus on the least fortunate members of society. In all three works Thomas Koppel combined the classical idiom with inspiration from the poor and marginalized people of the streets. As Koppel himself said: “Art can survive, when it starts with reality”.

Den har faktisk vinylet. Men hører den næsten ikke – uanset om det er et enestående værk kan jeg ikke få mig selv til at lytte til satsen der beskriver en togrejse med endestation Auschwitz.
Metheny’s kontrapunkt er absolut hørværdige.

It is coupled on this disc with Quest, a sextet led by an acoustic guitar and featuring a host of unusual percussion instruments, including the Appalachian hammered dulcimer, the African talking drum, and the Mexican rain stick.

Julian Anderson is a prominent figure in the contemporary music scene as Composer in Association with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra from 2001-2005, former Head of Composition at the Royal College of Music until 2005, and as current head of composition at Harvard.

The composer himself was closely involved in the production of this CD, and harmonia mundi - 7th August 2006 as author of the booklet's liner notes. This is the first release of five of his most important works to date.

Diptych (1990) was Anderson's first acknowledged work; it won the 1992 Royal Philharmonic Society Prize for Young Composers and was subsequently nominated as the BBC entry in the 1996 International Rostrum of Composers in Paris.

His two commissions for the London Sinfonietta, Khorovod (1994) and Alhambra Fantasy (2000) have been widely performed by leading ensembles across Europe and the USA. His other most played works include the orchestral BBC Proms commission The Stations of the Sun (1998).

A terrifying poem by W.B. Yeats, as well as the experience of a lunar eclipse in March 1996 gave the inspiration to The Crazed Moon (1997) commissioned by BBC Wales.

With a steady progression of major works for ensemble and orchestra to his name, Julian Anderson is now well established as one of the leading voices of his generation (he will be 40 next year). His latest piece, Heaven is Shy of Earth, is premièred at tomorrow night's BBC Prom, and to coincide with that event comes the release of this first disc devoted wholly to his music. It provides a comprehensive survey of his work in the 1990s, from his early, prize-winning Diptych, by way of his seminal Khorovod to his earlier Prom commission The Stations of the Sun and his most recent work for the London Sinfonietta, Alhambra Fantasy. All exhibit that characteristic Anderson sound: bright but lucid orchestration coupled with a rejuvenation of melody as a guiding force and a complex but energising sense of movement and harmony.
Oliver Knussen has been something of a mentor to Anderson, and he brings out the primeval vigour of Khorovod (he is its dedicatee) while dwelling on the passages of ravishing lyricism in The Stations of the Sun and the keening melody of The Crazed Moon.

Var lige ved at glemmer ham her, den er på vej til Fyn, men er pt. noget så usædvanlig som udsolgt. Desværre er Berio dog ikke i live længere, men er den af de store de sidste 50 år.

Amazon ved ikke rigtig hvad klassisk er - og er normalt for dyre.

Nordiske netbutikker disker sig selv (hos mig), når jeg trykker på klassisk kommer der Lotto, Church og andre gebrækkeligheder.

Denne er på nu - og kan anbefales. MEGET. Songs of Drones, etc er fra 1969 så den kan man sætte i relief til kulminationen af rock'ens gyldne år. Optagelsen er i superklasse - musikken er nem at lytte til men man kan heller ikke lade være. Til trods for Karl Aage Rasmussens anbefaling er jeg gået udenom om Crums grød, en fejl der nu blir rettet op på. Naxos svigter med hensyn til tekster (Lorca) og hvem der spiller på appalachian hammered dulcimer, african talking drums og mexican rain stick - for det er temmelig effektfuldt. Utroligt hvad man kan få for en 50'er.
