Discovery of Anime-week

We are happy to announce, that Club Nippon will present to you ANIME WEEK on week 28, July 7-11, 2008 at the Information and Cultural Centre at the Japanese Embassy.

This is a great chance to get a glimpse into the world of anime and see anime that have yet to become mainstream in Denmark, or maybe a chance to see one of the much discussed anime currently famous in Denmark.

On week 28, each day will represent a different topic. We hope to show you that there is a lot more to the world of anime, than just light entertainment for children.

Here is the list of the films we are going to show with the screening times. We will send you more detailed invitations closer to the date. Then you will be able to start making reservations for the films. We hope that many of you will be able to join us for the Discovery of Anime-week.

jeg ved ikke helt hvad jeg skal synes om det her. GITS kommer i en "ny" udgave hvor nogle scener er blevet genanimeret plus the Puppet master for en ny stemme ( say what?! ) . Hmm. Så længe jeg stadig had den gamle udgave tilgændelig er jeg tilfreds, men hvis det bliver sådan at kun GITS 2.0 er tilgændelig bliver jeg nok lidt pissed!

When I first posted the news about the upcoming release of Ghost In The Shell 2.0 - the polished and tweaked up version of Mamoru Oshii’s original Ghost In The Shell picture redone with current animation techniques - a couple days back I
expected there to be a certain amount of debate between the pruists who wanted the original left alone and those who were curious to see what the new tech would do to an all time classic.  Well, that debate certainly came and here’s where it gets a bit more intense:  the good folk at German blog AHT have gotten their hands on a trailer for the new version of the film along with a trio of comparison shots that put the old images next to the new. 

For the record, I think this project is significantly different from the tinkering with films such as Star Wars for two reasons:  One, as far as I know they’re not changing content at all, they’re just redrawing parts to bring it up to current standards. 

Two, they’re not burying the original version at all, it will be there and available to fans who prefer that version.  I love the original version and certainly won’t be ditching my copy any time soon but I think this looks pretty damn good as well and will certainly be adding it to my GiTS collection.  kilde

Ny Ninja Scroll film på vej og nyt om NGE filmen.
For those holding out hopes for more Ninja Scroll or a live action
movie Neon Genesis Evangelion, it's not time to get too excited yet.
However, in both cases, news coming Baltimore's Otakon pushes the
probability meter's needle a little deeper into "maybe" territory.

Appearing at the US East Coast's largest anime convention, Madhouse
Studios (that animators of Ninja Scroll, Paprika, the Girl Who Leapt
Through Time) co-founder and CCO Masao Maruyama stated that Ninja
Scroll writer/director Yoshiaki Kawajiri is involved with a script for
a sequel to the big-in-the-US bloody affair. Maruyama also mentioned
that, like Kawajiri, he has script approval for the sequel. The 1993
anime-movie previously spawned a 13 episode TV series in 2003.

Neon Genesis Evangelion distributor ADV Films is still promising
that substantial news concerning a live action adaptation of the
existential giant robot anime is on the horizon, but they also threw
out that Appleseed: Ex Machina producer Joseph Chou is attached to the
project.

Akira er på vej til BD.

    Bandai Entertainment Inc. announced that it will release the Akira Blu-ray under the “Honneamise” label on February 24, 2009 for at the SRP of $49.98.

    The AKIRA Blu-ray will feature visuals from a new Hi-Def transfer made from original materials and include English and Japanese audio and with optional English and Japanese subtitles. In an industry first, the disc will also contain a 192 KHz 24 bit audio stream.

Cowboy Beebop film på vej. Er nok lidt skeptisk og ved ikke om Keanu vil være en god Spike. 

20th Century Fox is bringing the Japanese anime TV series Cowboy Bebop to the big screen, with Keanu Reeves attached to star as a bounty hunter traveling through space in 2071, confirms The Hollywood Reporter.

One of the big titles in anime, "Bebop" is set in a time where "astral gates" make interstellar travel possible. Humanity, decimated by a lunar explosion resulting from a gate accident, spread out across the solar system, as did crime, which gave rise to the use of bounty hunters.

Reeves would play Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter and former member of a crime syndicate. Spiegel, along with Jet Black, a fellow bounty hunter and former cop, are the two pilots of the spaceship Bebop.

Peter Craig is writing the script.

The show, which first aired on Tokyo TV and satcaster Wowow during the late 1990s, was strongly influenced by American music, even featuring action sequences -- both space battles and mano a mano -- timed to U.S. melodies.

Sunrise president Kenji Uchida, the TV series' director of animation, Shinichiro Watanabe, and series writer Keiko Nobumoto will serve as associate producers. Series producer Masahiko Minami will serve as production consultant.http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=51989
