Nu ser det ud til, at den bedste eventyrstriologi til dato, Indiana Jones, bliver til en quadrologi! Det bliver med Harrison Ford i hovedrollen igen, men mon ikke rollen bliver tilpasset til hans alder, således at han måske optræder i en mere afdæmpet rolle, ala Sean Connery i 3'eren - og måske endda også som en mentor for en ny arvetager til rollen.

Paramount Pictures has set Thursday, May 22, 2008 for the release of the next Indiana Jones movie, which the studio is now officially referring to as the 'Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures.' The picture maintains the Memorial Day weekend release strategy of the last two Indiana Jones movies, and it mirrors the last two 'Star Wars' movies and 'The Matrix Reloaded' with its Thursday launch.

Also currently scheduled for Memorial Day weekend 2008 is Warner Bros.' 'Speed Racer.' Two other event-style pictures have previously staked out May 2008 releases dates: Paramount 's 'Iron Man' (May 2) and Buena Vista 's 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' (May 16).”

Cate Blanchett Joins Indiana Jones 4!

Cate Blanchett has signed on to star in the fourth installment of the "Indiana Jones" adventures. With David Koepp's screenplay shrouded in secrecy, it is unclear what character Blanchett will play.

Harrison Ford already has boarded the project, which will be produced by Lucasfilm and directed by Steven Spielberg.

Shooting will begin in June in Los Angeles and at undisclosed locations around the world. Paramount Pictures will release Indiana Jones 4 day-and-date around the world on May 22, 2008.

Frank Marshall is producing, with George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy executive producing.

Phew, it’s all kicking off over at Indy IV Towers, isn’t it? First of all came today’s news that Cate Blanchett has signed on to play an as-yet undisclosed role opposite Harrison Ford in the fourth Indy movie.

Then an email from an anonymous source dropped into Empire’s inbox this morning, which speculates that Messrs. Lucas and Spielberg may have finally settled on a title: it's all very unofficial at this point, but the current thinking is that the movie may wind up as Indiana Jones And The City Of Gods.

And, last but not least, our man at ShoWest, the big old exhibitor, erm, exhibition in Las Vegas, has reported back with an exclusive quote or two from Shia LeBeouf on his rumoured involvement in Indy IV/City Of Gods/Whatever It’s Called.

Now, if you’ve been keeping up to date, you’ll know that LeBeouf, who will soon be seen in the forthcoming Transformers, has been linked with the role of Indiana Jones’ son (would that make him Henry Jones III?), with some sources claiming that the deal was as good as done and dusted. But according to The Beef, that just ain’t so.

“I was rumoured to be in Superman as Jimmy Olsen, and I put a lot of eggs in that basket and I was really excited about it, so super-stoked,” said the 20 year-old actor. “Then it fell through. This is that same type of thing for me...”

Ah, but does that mean that there’s some truth in it? After all, for something to possibly fall through, the possibility of it remaining upright must first exist, non?

“It is a rumour, one that I might have started,” continued The Beef. “Who wouldn't? But at this point I don't have it and I'd be lying if I said I did. So it's a rumour, and maybe it's a rumour that's helping or hindering me. I don't know what the role is, I don't know if there is a role... but it's one of those things. It's just another rumour.”

Well, thanks for clearing that up, Shia. As for that rumoured title, it certainly sounds suitably Indiana Jonesy, and right now some of Empire’s finest brains are working hard to figure out if it’s a) genuine, and b) holds any clues as to the object Indy will be looking for this time around. We’re pretty sure that there is no connection to Fernando Meirelles’ classic, City Of God, though. Let the speculation begin!

Indiana Jones 4 producer George Lucas talked to USA Today about the highly-anticipated film, to be directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett.

Lucas told the newspaper that shooting begins in Los Angeles this June and then it's on to several top-secret global destinations. Lucas teased that one will include a waterfall.

Lucas said that Ford's age (64) won't be a problem. "He's not running in any of the movies. He's either on a horse or driving a car or a motorcycle. And he'll play his age in this movie with what's appropriate. The chases are more suspenseful than speedy. Like the rolling ball in the first film — it's not that he's running that fast, it's that there's a giant ball coming at him. And he will get beat up, which is a tradition for us."

Lucas, who also is in pre-production on a "bare-bones, action-heavy" "Star Wars" live-action TV series, said there'll still be plenty of action in "Indy 4," the official title of which he hopes to keep under wraps until the first trailer hits theaters around Thanksgiving.

Sean Connery has yet to sign on as Indiana's father, Dr. Henry Jones, but Lucas said, "We're still trying."

It wasn't his idea to cast Blanchett as Ford's new leading lady, he added. "That's who my director wanted, and I always bow to the wishes of my director," Lucas said of Spielberg. "I approved it because she seemed like a good idea. When I met her at the Academy Awards, I told her, 'Hey, you work for me now!'"

George Lucas spoke to USA Today yesterday about the fourth Indiana Jones film and delivered a masterclass in saying a lot without actually giving anything away.

So, what did we learn from Lucas's chat with the erstwhile publication?

    * The full name of the film will be kept under wraps until the first trailer is released on Thanksgiving in the US. Since we don't have Thanksgiving in the UK – we just eat what we want and give thanks to no-one, NO-ONE! – we'll just call it the last weekend in November.
    * Cate Blanchett, who's role is still unspecified, was Spielberg's choice. "That's who my director wanted and I always bow to my director," said Lucas. "I approved her because she seemed like a good idea".
    * Sean Connery is not yet signed to return as Indy Sr. "We're still trying," is all Lucas would say.
    * The film will shoot in several top secret locations, including one that features a waterfall. Niagra? The Amazon? Logger's Leap at Thorpe Park? Who knows?
    * You should never talk to strangers and it's good to co-operate. Wait, no that was Sesame Street. It was sponsored by the letters A and P and the number 4. Oscar was grouchy.

Indiana Jones 4 Script Includes Sean Connery

The San Francisco Film Society honored George Lucas on Thursday and the "Star Wars" creator talked to Reuters about starting Indiana Jones 4 and whether Sean Connery would be back:

Lucas said he is ready to begin work as a producer next month on the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones film franchise.

In a brief interview, he said veteran actor Sean Connery had yet to agree to reprise his role as Indiana Jones' father.

"We have a script with him in it," he said. "If he doesn't do it, we'll do a quick rewrite."

The fourth installment is targeted for a May 22, 2008 release.
