DSB synes ikke man behøver at vedligeholde skinnerne, man kører bare hurtigt over problemerne 8) !

Man må tro

Nå – det er sikrere at lade Duke og Strayhorn spille ”Take the A Train”, men god rejse Kibri!

En lille afstikker fra jazzen:

To nyheder...

Elvis Costello/Allan Toussaint - The River In Reverse. Deres reaktion på New Orleans katastrofen - fremragende skive. Med hjælp fra The Imposters + Anthony Brown + The Crescent City Horns.

Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped.

Peirre-Laurent Aimard – Piano

Pierre-Laurent Aimard is one of the most exciting pianists performing today. He has developed a remarkable career, performing contemporary music and collaborating closely with Olivier Messiaen, Pierre Boulez and Gyorgy Ligeti, yet refusing to be pigeonholed as he continues to explore a broad range of music from different ages and sources.

Last year, for the second year in a row, he was nominated for a Grammy award. During the past year he has made his Carnegie Hall debut (recorded live and released on Teldec) and performed the Dvorak Piano Concerto with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Royal Concertgebouw (recorded live by Teldec, to be released this autumn). He has also given the world premiere of Ligeti’s 18th Etude (recorded for Teldec and released in April this year to commemorate Ligeti’s 80th birthday) and did a European tour with Alfred Brendel in which Aimard played the piano and Brendel read from a book of his own poetry entitled One Finger Too Many.

Riding on the success of their hit single "Hocus Pocus" from the revolutionary Moving Waves album, Focus got to work on this, their third LP in four years. While the debut album features a style not too dissimilar to the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band, Focus' second LP Moving Waves is purely instrumental and wholly serious-minded. Focus III keeps this same sound, but approaches it with a jollier, more accessible tone. As with its predecessor, Focus III features only one tune that would be in with a chance of being a hit single. The enjoyable rhythm of "Sylvia," partnered with Jan Akkerman's victorious guitar solo, some of Van Leer's finest organ-work, Bert Ruiter's tight basslines, and Pierre Van Der Linden's mellow drumming assured the track classic status. "Sylvia" found worldwide success and gained the band valuable radio and press exposure. The song remains one of the most loved and best remembered songs from Focus' catalog. The consistence in musical quality throughout Focus III is enough to merit any listeners' respect. To be frank, this LP has it all: diverse songs, astounding musicianship, one of the finest singles ever released — Focus III should unquestionably be ranked alongside the likes of Revolver and Dark Side of the Moon and any others of rock's greatest.

Marblehead Messenger, while better played and sung, didn't have the appeal that their previous effort seemed to. But it is much more of a band effort, and the tunes are well worth seeking out and enjoying. A forgotten jewel of its time.

In Search of the Lost Chord is the album on which the Moody Blues discovered drugs and mysticism as a basis for songwriting and came up with a compelling psychedelic creation, filled with songs about Timothy Leary and the astral plane and other psychedelic-era concerns. They dumped the orchestra this time out in favor of Mike Pinder's Mellotron, which was a more than adequate substitute, and the rest of the band joined in with flutes, sitar, tablas, and cellos, the playing of which was mostly learned on the spot. The whole album was one big experiment to see how far the group could go with any instruments they could find, thus making this album a rather close cousin to the Beatles' records of the same era. It is all beautiful and elegant, and "Legend of a Mind"'s chorus about "Timothy Leary's dead/Oh, no — he's outside, looking in" ended up anticipating reality; upon his death in 1996, Leary was cremated and launched into space on a privately owned satellite, with the remains of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry (another '60s pop culture icon) and other well-heeled clients.

Herlige plader... :D

I går:

Janis Ian "Between The Lines" og P. Simon "Songs From The Capeman"...

He he

One of the guitar heroes of fusion, Al di Meola was just 22-years-old at the time of his debut as a leader but already a veteran of Chick Corea's Return to Forever. The complex pieces (which include the three-part "Suite-Golden Dawn," an acoustic duet with Corea on "Short Tales of the Black Forest," and a brief Bach violin sonata show di Meola's range even at this early stage. With assistance from such top players as bassists Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke, keyboardist Barry Miles, and drummers Lenny White and Steve Gadd, this was a very impressive beginning to di Meola's solo career.

ps: hvem bliver no 1000 !!!!  - Zaka, Villman, Kibri, Becker????
